Problems With Leasing Vehicle Tracking Systems

August 23, 2009

Many companies are now experiencing problems with getting a lease to purchase GPS vehicle tracking systems. Because we are right in the middle of a recession it means some companies who have tracking contracts are going out of business. This is a problem with any type of lease, but if you lease a car or a photocopier the lease company can take the asset back and at least recoup some of their investment.

The problem gets worse as if the tracking company goes out of business then it’s even worse for the leasing company. They will have to try and collect the payments of many companies that no longer receive the service. This can be very problematic for them and they face losing a lot of money.

For this reason leasing on vehicle tracking devices is becoming increasingly difficult to get. Even companies with a spot less credit history and many years of tracking behind them are having to go to great lengths to prove they are a safe bet.

For this reason pay as you go deals have started to grow in popularity over the past year. For many companies it is the only option they have open to them if they want to get tracking systems installed into their fleet of vehicles. Unfortunately pay as you go is more expensive than getting the systems on a lease deal.
