Mozilla Targets 25 Percent Market Share

At the end of 2009, Mozilla is targeting one of four Internet users is the user’s browser application. That is, Firefox is targeted to control 25 percent of the world’s browser market share. Asa Dotzler, Director of Community Development Mozilla said in the last few days, Firefox can maintain 24 percent share of the global browser. As half of the total users come from the United States.

“I think we were on the way to 25 percent globally by the end of this year,” said Dotzler, as our quotes from the official Mozilla blog, 29 September 2009.

Firefox 3.5 to be the latest weapon of Mozilla enticing surfers in cyberspace. The browser’s latest version has audio and video support open standards, supports JavaScript, canvas improvements, to downloadable fonts and geo-location services.

In its roadmap, the next few months, Mozilla will release Firefox 3.6, Firefox 3.7, followed in March 2010. And, a big new product release, Firefox 4.0, scheduled to be off the end of next year.

Just FYI, according to the latest Net Applications data, the largest market share of web browsers is still dominated by Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) with 67 percent, followed by 23 percent Firefox, and Safari around four percent.

However, according to a survey conducted by Net Applications site was also mentioned that Firefox had surpassed Internet Explorer with 63 percent of respondents, followed by Opera as a Web browser into the second favorite with 14 percent. IE just perched on the third rank with 12 percent of respondents, followed by the next Safari is 11 percent.
