Hearing these reports, Microsoft immediately conduct an investigation into named Kye factory located in Guangdong province to check on the truth.

“We have an independent team to conduct a complete and thorough investigation,” wrote Brian Tobey who heads Microsoft’s entertainment and devices unit in his blog, as quoted from the Sydney Morning Herald, Saturday (4/17/2010).

“If we found the plant did not follow Microsoft’s standards, we will take action against him in accordance with prevailing regulations,” he asserted.

Tobey said the independent teams often conduct inspections to Kye each year, while Microsoft representatives do the same thing every quarter.

“Two years ago, we require that the documentation and verification of working age, and we did not find the data of workers under age,” says Tobey.

Very long working hours, he said, has also been significantly reduced and the compensation for the workers also are in accordance with the standards of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition in the region.
