2010 – NAND Flash Smartphone will increase

December 31, 2009

In 2010, smart phones using NAND flash memory will be more developed. In addition vendors will prefer to chip rather than solid state drives (SSD) in its products. Thus disclosed Kingston founder David Sun.

“We have smart phones that integrate with 16GB NAND flash memory and 32GB is a lot to offer. Growth is going to increase, rather than SSD which I predict will slow,” said Sun, told Digitimes, Thursday (31/12/2009).

Currently, according to the Sun, maps smart phone market with the market scenario of personal computers (PCs) in mid 1980, where all difficult to guess and move quickly, he believes, smart phone market will continue to demand up to 20 to 30 years, where Internet applications are also running together.

Clearly, the growth of smart phones with NAND Flash memory will continue to increase rather than SSD, even as the PC market, the presence of SSD will run slow.

“The smart phone segment, the penetration of SSDs will meet the fate as the PC market. This is because the SSD is still rewarded with quite expensive,” said Su.

Su fact is reinforced by the issue that said Toshiba has recently announced plans to mass-produce NAND flash memory with a 64GB capacity next year. Some have predicted the NAND Flash as the main components used in Apple iPod devices and the iPhone.

During this successful smart phone buried iPhone NAND Flash is 3GS. Apple products have now armed components 16GB NAND Flash module and 32GB. While using iPod Touch 32GB flash modules and 64GB.
