Social Games ‘more’ played by 21% of U.S. Gamers

Internet Games – United States (USA) currently leads the world in online business revenue. But the gaming market in the EU and other regions predicted to continue to grow.

“This free option must broaden appeal among gamers older people and women, and a lot of consumers do not really consider themselves gamers at all,” said the video game research VP Michael Cai, as quoted by Reuters on Tuesday (5/18/ 2010).

“Without a common gaming portals such as Pogo, Real Networks, and Big Fish Games, a lot of gamers old woman had never paid a penny for gaming content.” Cai said.

The report also found, 21 percent of the U.S. population, or more than 46.1 million people in the social network gaming. More than 11 million Americans playing the game only social network. The average age for gamers social networking is 38.8 years compared to 30.9 years which is the average age of console gamers.

Cai found that 12 percent of gamer social network plans to buy a Wii, which will be their first game console.

In addition, the game console maker to offer consumers an option to play for free, including game demos can be downloaded via Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade and Sony’s PlayStation Network Store.

“Providing free content to gamers can be very useful to developers and publishers, even if it comes in the form of demos and played briefly, the game was not spectacular,” said Patrick Shaw, editor of GamePro magazine.

According to Shaw, the special characteristics that exist in these games is to attract the attention of game players to buy more complete format.
