Online Digital of Iraq Museum Will be Coming Soon

National Museum of Iraq would soon be showing off their historic collection online. It became possible because the Internet giant Google will present the artifacts and documents the National Museum of Iraq in the form online.

This was stated by Iraq’s National Museum director Amira Eda. He mentioned, with this system everyone can access and get various information on objects collection of National Museum of Iraq.

Meanwhile, Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt confirmed the company would create a virtual copy of the entire museum collections using their own cost.

There are approximately 14,000 digital images created Google based museum collections and can be accessed via the Internet starting next year as information quoted by AFP on Wednesday (11/25/2009).

“Google’s mission is to provide information that can be accessed by anyone. A lot of information about the Arab world of the unknown by the outside world,” said Schmidt.

National Museum of Iraq is one place where an amazing collection of Mesopotamia. Unfortunately, in April 2003 after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, approximately 15 thousand statues and precious artifacts stolen and several other valuable collections smuggled.
