Helper Site Veterans ‘Warrior Gateway’

Internet News – Young soldier who returned from duty in Iraq or Afghanistan, when they returned to the community tend to feel anxious, especially if they have been injured or have been struggling with mental health problems.

To help them, a new web portal trying to help the soldiers find the services they need in an environment where they feel comfortable in the internet.

A site that is named Warrior Gateway designed by Google so that young veterans feel as comfortable as possible. Veterans who return from Iraq and Afghanistan, in general, the average age of 20s. They acknowledge the life of the emails, relating to use Facebook, and familiar with online communities that stretch.

“Our generation is in the social media landscape,” said Tom Tarantino, a former Army captain who is now working as a legislative associate for the Americas Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, Monday (05/24/2010).

“We could not navigate the city without Google Maps, or in relation to the kinds of social networks Facebook,” he added.

This site allows veterans in touch with family, friends and even find caregivers for services based on the extensive range of categories, including geography, places and restaurants. So they are not awkward when in the new environment.

According to the manager, Gateway Warrior personally funded by the result of individual donations and grants, and not funded by government or military.
