Germany will take action against Google for Monopoly

Germany accused Internet giant Google has been transformed into a monopoly, just as software giant Microsoft. German law ministry said, Google could face lawsuits if they are not transparent in managing the public’s information.

One analyst, Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger rate Google has been collecting too much information about the population through their services such as Google Earth and Google Books.

“Google became increasingly large and powerful and increasingly monopolize the Internet, it’s like Microsoft,” said Sabine, as quoted by Reuters on Tuesday (12/1/2010).

“My initial response to this problem is to not restrict or stop something. But I also want to Google more transparent and ensure that users know what is happening with their data,” he added.

Sabine argues, Google has a duty in this respect and there are many things that need to be developed. If not, Germany will soon be taking legal action to Google.

Sabine is also one of the board members of the liberal party has also sought related law practice of spying or surveillance to curb growing privacy rights of German citizens in about 1992 and 1996.

Google’s spokesman said Germany will meet the demand for transparency in how they operate and promised some changes in accordance with the provisions of the country.
