Five Facebook user sue Facebook
facebook earlier this week sued the five users. The reason, the popular social networking site was accused of violating the laws of the state of California, United States (U.S.), which protects the privacy of consumers.
Daily site of The Wall Street Journal revealed that the claim was submitted five owners Facebook account in the Superior Court of Orange County, California, Monday, August 17, 2009 local time.
The lawsuit accuses Facebook, which is headquartered in the city of Palo Alto, failing to ensure the privacy of the plaintiffs after spreading their personal data. Facebook also be in violation of the laws that protect consumer privacy. That is, consumers are entitled to request Facebook to not disclose personal data that they upload (upload) to the pages to a third party who did not want – in this case the advertisers.
“Plaintiffs and the public at large expect of privacy, where Facebook has failed to meet the policies, procedures, practices, and technology made today,” it’s the quotes of the lawsuit document .
The plaintiff is a photographer, an actress, and the students and high school students. They then demanded Facebook compensate, bear the cost of the case, and requested a jury trial. In a statement, Facebook spokesman Barry Schnitt, it was determined that there is no reason to admit the lawsuit and will fight it.
The lawsuit came as Canadian authorities were also urged for more consistent Facebook in privacy protections guaranteed to the users. In addition, Facebook is expected to simplify procedures for users to delete their accounts permanently. Schnitt said that Facebook will respond to the management of Canada’s insistence.
