China Prohibits the Violence Action for Internet Addicts

Government of China issued a regulation that prohibits beatings and confinement of youth who received treatment because of an addiction to the Internet. The regulation came out, after the abuse cases emerged, even the death of a teenager on the internet rehab.

Regulation, published by China’s Ministry of Health website emphasizes that emotional control should be used in dealing with children who have internet addiction.

“Parents and teachers should analyze the causes, and not arbitrarily punish, spank or scold young children … the intervention methods that restricts personal freedom are strictly prohibited and physical punishment is prohibited,” wrote the legislation that was launched by the China Daily , Thursday (october/5/2009).

August ago, a teenage boy died because of beatings at the camp Internet addiction in southern China Guangxi region. The incident had sparked outrage across the country.

According to local media reports, there are 10 million China teens who become addicted Internet and at least 400 people in private Internet rehab. As is known, 60 percent of online users in China, was a relatively young.
